Are underdeveloped communication skills holding YOU back?

One of the biggest mistakes we make each day at work and in our homes is to under estimate the power of communication. We simply take for granted that communication really is a tool, and that it can help “make or break” us. This training program shows us how our daily communication skills can dramatically propel us to new levels of success. You’ll get an inside-out look at the two basic categories of communication: Internal – the voice within, and Interpersonal – listening and dealing with others. Each category is explored in detail to help advance your understanding of how to create effective communication.

Pat is a financial planner who is a very confident and experienced presenter. His skills really shine as a writer. He had a common problem of experienced speakers. You’ll even hear Craig tell the audience he had the same problem when he started. It is a problem we term “SPEAKER MAN” (or woman). It means the speech is great, but they for get one thing. The audience. The presentation would be delivered in exactly the same way even if no one was in front of him. This Video will show you: BEFORE — HONEST FEEDBACK — AFTER. In the “after clip” you’ll see Pat actually asks questions directly to an audience member to help break him of his bad habit. Also notice or feedback is direct as well as encouraging. No mentor ever “niced” anyone into being better. If you are a presenter and feel you just can’t get good growth feedback, you’ve never been to our Coaching Boot Camp. We’ve never been stumped. This level of feedback will transform you. Join Toastmasters International World Champion Speakers Darren LaCroix and Craig Valentine for: How Professional Presenters Can OWN the STAGE

The barriers are: not knowing or focusing on customers' need (not listening to customer lead to loss of business), lack of communication between management and employees(no clear leadership role, no sense of direction lead to objective failure), lack of training in company policy, regulation and technology ( inadequate knowledge or not enough training from how to conduct a service to how to use technology to get a point across lead to inadequate performance).

assertive communication pulls no punches. If I am communicating with someone else, and I emphatically pronounce my position on a topic, I leave no doubt to the listener about my stance. I therefore open up the communication area to their ideas/beliefs. A clear delineation of ideas promotes adversarial communication/debate. Ambivelance in communication will only promote theoretical discussions or immaterial exchanges about the merits of one idea or another. Rarely will communication be productive.

in my english class i have this Student Run Disucssion in which a person needs to tell what they think about on a specific book and comment it.

when its my turn to speak, im terrible at it.

1. heart justs pounded 100mph.
2.sweating on my hands.
3. here a lot of "ughs"
4. too many pausing.
5. eye contact with students is poor.
thats pretty much it.

how may i improve? i tried using a mirror, but its not working.

well i can help u with some of the things.

firstly, no matter how comfortable others may seem, MOST if not all students who have to speak in a class feel the same way and are doing their best to cover their nervousness. i had the worst problem with public speaking now i just dont care. my heart still pounds yeah, but at least i can get through it pretty well.

dont memorize every line of ur speech, just the main points. dont stare directly at the audience, but past them at a wall or something. or stare at random items. just not at the person. i find that really helps.

ok for business management yr. 11 i need to present a mini training presentation where i instruct/pass on skills or knowledge to the class, by talking and/or using 'props'. It can be on anything basketball to CPR……i need help!! what should i do it on and what should i do…. i like basketball, football, and lots of stuff

I would start by drawing up what it is to be passed on. I would go for the CPR myself. I would first of all make up a few headings. then do a slideshow with windows presentation. with these headings then say a few things on each heading and if your thinking some sub headings. Don't make it to complicated keep it simple and to the point. I think really if you go for sport you will get people turn off and not care and really if you go for CPR you get more attention really. Don't forget lots of people either hate sport are don't care about it.
